I wish I could participate! I've made two wreaths this year, and I am surprised how well they turned out. The titles of these wreaths are so creative and tantalizing! I am sure the wreaths live up to their names. :) We need photos. Great fundraiser idea!

I agree with Liz's statement, "I am most comfortable with databases that are agregators of magazine content, so it is a shift in thinking for me to use one that pulls from reference books."

That said I could see many immeadiate uses for this database. I believe it would be a great ready reference tool for students working outside the library. I specifically like the fact that it provides immeadiate interface to other library resources, such as the library catalog and other database holdings. If you need more information after looking at a reference citation you have the resources right on your open page.

I tried the search "metric conversion" and the top answer I received was a metric converion chart from the American Heritage Medical Dictionary.

I worked through two of the offered tours, the step-by-step tour and the basic search tour. I really like the scope of the database, and huge number of sources available.

I did a search on "Eisenhower Berlin 1945" and all the results I received were pertinent. At the end of each result it indicates how long the resource is. I think this is helpful in choosing which one to read, depending on your purpose.

I like the ability to narrow the search results by subject facets available on the left side, including article type, subject, media, and date.

I am most comfortable with databases that are aggregators of magazine content, so it is a shift in thinking for me to use one that pulls from reference books. The more I use this, the more I can see how convenient and useful it is.

Not really my cup of tea. Persoanally, seems like I could get more done at the public library. It's possible I was doing the search wrong, but looked like it was coming up with something completely different than what I typed. "Metric Conversion" does not equal a "Betty Crocker [cookbook]."

This is an incredible addition to our library. I know that the titles available will grow and grow. Downloadable books are certainly going to be more prevalent as we move forward in time. Between one's iPod and Kindle, one gets the impression that paper books will become extinct. I don't believe that, but with the MP3 format and Kindle or Kindle-like devices, think of how many trees are being saved (that's for all the tree-huggers in our midst).

Thanks!!

Good plan, Carolyn! There are many books that I would like to re-read, too. I have no doubt that the life experience and maturity I would bring to a second reading would make the stories completely new again. -- Marlene Anderson
