Library of Congress Closed

The budget impasse that brought nonessential operations of the federal government to a halt has also had a major impact on Web sites used by many educators, researchers, and students, including the Library of Congress.  If you go to their site, you will see this message:

Due to the temporary shutdown of the federal government, the Library of Congress is closed to the public and researchers beginning October 1, 2013 until further notice. All public events are cancelled and web sites are inaccessible except the legislative information sites THOMAS.gov and beta.congress.gov.”

Many other Web sites are also affected by the shutdown; some are completely unavailable and others are not being updated. Anong them:
