Andrew Carnegie Medal Finalists
Here is the shortlist for finalists for the 2014 Andrew Carnegie Medals for Excellence in Fiction and Nonfiction. The winners will be announced at the upcoming ALA Annual Conference in Las Vegas on June 28.
The BSC Library has all three nonfiction finalists:
- The Bully Pulpit: Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, and the Golden Age of Journalism by Doris Kearns Goodwin
- Five Days at Memorial: Life and Death in a Storm-Ravaged Hospital by Sheri Fink
- On Paper: The Everything of Its Two-Thousand Year History, by Nicholas A. Basbanes
We do not currently own any of the fiction finalists, but could get them for you via interlibrary loan.

Easter Holiday Hours
The Library will observe these hours for the Easter holiday:
- Thursday, April 17 – 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Friday, April 18 – CLOSED
- Saturday, April 19 – CLOSED
- Sunday, April 20 – CLOSED
- Monday, April 21 – 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, April 22,
Even when we are closed, the ODIN catalog and the Library’s databases are available 24/7.

Help us celebrate!
Come to our open house celebration on Wednesday, April 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. AND check something out!
We will have cookies and you can get a preview of the artwork in the annual student art show.
We are also holding a Library Quest contest for students. The first clue will be released today (Monday) at the Student Union between 12 noon and 1 p.m. The other clues will be released each day through Thursday at the BSC Library. The winner will be chosen by a drawing from the correct entries.
The Prize? A $25 gift certificate to the BSC Bookstore plus 3 free coffees from Mystic Java and a BSC t-shirt.
National Library Week is a time to highlight the value of libraries, librarians and library workers.
First sponsored in 1958, it is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April.
